Blog Banner from January to September.

Alright 2012 is coming soon and a new era is about to begin (hopefully not the last).
New Year mean new goals to achieve, and new resolution to be made.

In 2011, things and works turned out to be rough and pretty unstable. I tried to create a design/illustration every week and managed to create 24 artworks continuously, most of it were submitted to tee competition but unfortunately all had failed to be selected as a print. The most disappointing things is 3 of the big companies in the world had approached me this year but in the end, decided to go with someone else. Boohoo!~!~!

On the bright side, i started to sell my own posters this year through channels like facebook, blog and other social media and had managed to sell a total of 105 so far. That's not bad actually but of course, i can't do it without you. Thanks for supporting the real panda revolution created in Singapore. Those you find in China are just copycat.

Other then that, I'm glad that i had submitted my designs to Teefury & Woot which helped to bring my work to a broaden audience. In fact, one of the design from teefury made it into Tosh.0.

Just sold my 100th piece of poster/print and i'm currently posting some of the artworks, things and stuffs from my workplace.

Panda revolution VI could be my most hot favorite artwork ever!

Every now & then, someone will email me regarding where to get the postcard size of my work as they had saw it in the shops in the street of China and they didn't want to get it due to the "Poorly" written English sentence in it, and every now and then, I will reply them that , “It’s a stolen artwork of mine!"

Now if you ever see this work in China, I need to emphasize that this is not created in China. It was stolen! They are not created by the 798 bitches and brothers in the Art Street of Beijing either. These peoples are not even fitted to call themselves “Artist." They are just plain "robbers" .

Anyway, thanks for supporting me all this times.

I will officially stop creating "one design per week" after "week 25" because life happens and I'm going to be busy dealing with it for a while. I will be still creating design but only not once a week.

I sincerely thank you for your supports over the past 6 months. Thanks for voting for me in those various tee competitions i participated in and apologies as none have been selected to be printed on tee. Lady luck has not been smiling at me.
Nevertheless, it stills a good try for me as I have experimental different style and pushed myself to create 1 every week. It’s not an easy task and I really need to salute those that create 1 per day.

Lastly, I wanted to thank all who have purchased prints from me, until today I have sent out a total of 45 prints (and counting) in past 2 months time. It’s probably not a lot to some but to me it’s a lot of supports. I never thought I can sell this much so thank you all so much.(* I don’t want to make it sound like I’m leaving lol) That's all.

Xiaobaosg is an Illustrator who is good at drawing panda. This time, he make use of Japan folklore , " Urashima Taro" to tell the story of Panda who saved a big sea turtle while fishing.

Panda feel that it's a cruel things to kill the million old turtle, hence decided to let the sea turtle free. And because of that Panda was rewarded to visit the dragon palace and was well treated by the dragon princess. ( story not by me , the newspaper retold it themself)

Great Yu controls the flood ( 大禹治水)

Based on a Chinese mythology about Yu the Great (大禹 ), the legendary founder of the Xia Dynasty who is best remembered for teaching the people techniques to tame rivers and lakes during an epic flood occurred in an event generally known as Great Yu controls the flood.

This is a story of a little elephant who meets a bird who is a brilliant blue. He asks the bird how he got so blue and the bird said he flew so high that he reached the sky and the colour dripped all over him.

The little elephant decides that he wants to be blue rather than a dull gray so he decided he must climb to the highest mountains so he can suck the blue from the sky.

This is the first from the series that is not cute but bloody. For most of you who had been following Panda Revolution closely, you probably knew that it have been fiercely stolen and sold by the thieves from China in this couple of years and recently from Thailand. My works had been made into wallet, bag, mouse pad, ugly tee shirt, cup and etc... You can say I'm getting in the franchise lines but the sad thing is i don't get paid for my creation.

Anyway, this piece is specially created for the thieves from China. They had stolen my works and sold it as their own online. Yes, they might had benefited from my works but they will never step out from my shadow as most of you know that I'm the real creator and whatever they are doing right now is a kind of a promotion for me.

Lastly, for you out there regardless of races who believe in rights and justice, I hope you can help me to write in to taobao. My friends and I have been emailing their copyright team to remove the stolen artworks. They themselves had told us that their are a legal site and will not hesitate to remove any stolen artworks in their site. Until today, even after numerous numbers of emails and reporting of stolen artworks from my friends and me taobao had yet to remove any stolen artworks and they do not believe that I’m the original creator. I feel that they shouldn’t proclaimed themselves as a legal site as whatever the legal team in taobao.com is doing is irresponsible and not professional.

If you can do me a favor, please write in to this guy "Ding xian" from taobao.com, his email is dingxian@taobao.com and let him know who the real creator behind panda revolution. Flooding his mail is optional. Thanks.

This is not your usual kind of greeting card. ( ^ q ^!) ~ giggle*

The fat baby boy is grabbing the breath ( Tu Qi Yang Mei) and blood out of the rabbit , its a good symbol so he thought and the poor rabbit surrender the control to life.
I haven't been drawing the chubby baby boy for a long long time so i thought maybe i created one for this year. Something different.

Anyway, here i wish everyone "恭喜发财, 年年有鱼 & 兔年行大運!"

This is a secret personal project I'm working on, tentatively titled as "80's warrior's record or ~~八十武士录~~ 八十武士戦記." It’s a series of game from the 80's fusion with ukiyo-e style. I will probably create 6 pieces bi-monthly throughout this year.

The first artwork here is inspired by Zelda and I have been working on it for a couple of weeks , researching, drawing, refining and blah blah blah...

I had received a lot of requests on Zelda since i created Hunting Season so here's it the first of the series.

Spectacle(d) Caiman

A crocodilian reptile found in Central and South America.

It lives in a range of lowland wetland and riverine, often found reading by the riverside or riverbank, hence it is short-sighted and wears spectacles. That's why it is named Spectacle(d) Caiman.(according to xiaobaosg)
Its does looked like a nerd but definitely not a chicken.

If you are wondering why i placed a watermark across the artwork, this is used to prevent art-thieves. A couple of weeks ago while shopping for Christmas present, i happened to see a few stores & push carts in local shopping malls selling skins of artwork for iphone, laptop and ipod from Deviantart, flickr & etc…. How convenient, and i doubted that particular artists had authorized it or knew about this. Be warned, fellow artists.

I wanted to create a website this year but well, I'm kind of lazy and very use of doing the blog things....maybe i will do it sometime ..someday...

Remember the very first set of tattoo(s) i created a while ago for a freelance project?

Somehow it caught the eye of an editor from a Taiwan Tattoo Magazine and they decided to give me a full featured on their magazine and an interview to introduce me to the folks in Taiwan. I might said I'm very lucky that my first creation got me all this. Amazing~!!

In return , i decided to give them a full interview in Chinese. Although i speak Chinese all the times but when it come to typing in Chinese, its never failed to give me a hell of times.

A collabration with saltyshadow "based on a Chinese mythology, about “Nian” ( which means “Year” in English ), a furious monster that lived in the ancient time. Nian was born to be very ugly and ferocious, which looked like either dragons or unicorns. It is believed that around the Spring Festival, the monster would come down from the sky to hunt people."

Here we had kind of twisted the story to our version that the monster " Nian" had actually descended from the Sky like a shooting star.

Following the popular and artistic success of the first two International Manga Art Shows Fairfields curated, one of which then went on to tour to the North of England, Fairfields is very pleased to curate ‘The Third UK International Manga Art Show’ this year.

This exhibition is very much about manga which is art, and also about manga influenced art.

Manga is now very much an international phenomenon, a very successful cultural export. Although essentially a Japanese art form, this exhibition has work by manga artists from all over the world, including Japan, China, Canada, the USA, Singapore and the UK. As an art form it requires both the traditional ability to draw well, and also a high standard of software skill

This is the second times that i had participated in this exhibition.
The exhibition was held in Fairfields Arts Centre on Monday 7th June to Saturday 10th July 2010.

This is a project i did for the brochures for Ikeda Spa.

It's pretty much a try out of Ukiyoe ( old japanese woodprint ) style on modern brochures.
I have not seem the final outcome but i think it does look good. (^ ^)

At the beginning , we wanted to create a tough yet sexy looking Geisha with body art but later decided to cut down/hide it as its for a spa rather a tattoo shop. Heeee..

I guessed I had achieved most of the resolutions which i made in 2009 like getting more t-shirt printed , collaborated with various artists/designers etc.
The only thing that i really didn’t achieve is to keep fit. I failed to keep my waist under control and its expanding in inches every day. Haaa. I'm not going to make it a resolution this year but I will try my best to do it if possible...

New Year Resolution for 2010

1) The first thing to kick the start for the year is to do prints (poster) for sale so you can expect "prints" from me if you're keen on getting them especially " Hunting season."

~I'm already on the process of redoing and refining it.
Probably, I'll be doing a limited prints of A1 size for the first batch of poster and then after A2 for the rest of prints. Anyway if you are interested on getting this poster , please join my facebook page for discussion and update.

2) To get more designs printed on Tee again..

3) More Collaboration works.

4) Probably get a website up as many had told me that its not professional for not having one. It is true? I'm not sure but I’m on the process on working out the details and getting friend to do it for me.

Mario Hype again

After 4 months , the force is still going strong..

The Mario illustration that i had created for Uberbooks's Designers Games Remix book have yet created another hype this few days after being posted in Digg and Geekologie. A estimation of85,836 views in FlickR alone.

I have received quite alot of mails since July and more this few days , on getting this print.

"Definitely , i will be selling its as a print" but as for now , i feel its not right if i start selling it before the book release.

Flyer for Feinheit

Feinheit is a graphic-design/web company based in Zurich, Switzerland. In September, they will be turning 3! And so, I was commissioned to design their flyer for their 3rd Year Anniversary party/event.

"The idea is Elephants (also their company mascot) dominating the world!"

From Lenin to Gandhi...
Process:

-At the beginning, I came out with propaganda ideas of Lenin (below).

- And later, was requested to make some changes, still sticking with the propaganda ideas but a holy image, Gandhi . ^_^ ( below)

- Once approved, I added in more details and colored it in Photoshop. Also made some changes as requested. ^_^

And we are done! ^_^

It was pretty fun creating this flyer. I was given a lot of freedom while working out this illustration for them and the guys at Feinheit are really a group of fun loving and generous peoples. I’m glad they loved it and had allowed me to post this today.
